“Nobody shall tramp on my grave”
For better or for worse. 7th August 1993 : Ivo Bogdanovsky discharges himself from hospital to celebrate his sister Wenche’s 40th birthday. He has AIDS , and knows that he will soon die. Wenche has to help him with his injections. She has dissolved a methadone tablet in sterilised water and filtered the solution through cotton wool. She helps him with the injection, so that he is comfortable for a few hours. Ivo has had the responsibility for running the local radio station, Veiviseren (literally: “The path guide”), in Haugesund. He is a bit of a James Dean. Living on the edge. On the 9th of August 1993 he dies.
Till death us do part. “You are so good, Ivo”. Wenche Myrna Sunde Bogaovski bids farewell to her brother at Haukeland Hospital. She is to live for a further ten years. She wants to be buried anonymously. Nobody shall tramp on my grave, she said.
Photographer Roar Christensen followed her closely for 15 years.
